Friday night 4 miles on grass and a circuit class, Saturday 7 miles mainly on grass – not very enjoyable, far too hot even late in the day. 60 miles, the most I’ve done for a few months, need to start getting the long runs in now, only 14 weeks to the Liverpool Marathon ;0)
PLS 10k Sunday, I was marshalling with the group 1 bods at the 6k – 9k point. Beautiful day but again too hot for running, around 350 turned out and the race was won by Matthew Rose of Buckley in 33:57, a great time in the conditions. It was the first time I’d marshalled a race and it was great to see the reaction a bit of encouragement gets. It must have been really tough for all runners in the heat regardless of their standard. The scale of organising this race was impressive too. I know I’m stating the obvious but it’s a massive effort and my cap is doffed to all the PLS race committee. A great day topped off with a few pints at the ‘de-brief’ with PLS members at Penny Lane Wine Bar. |
