Tough double session yesterday, ran 7 miles in the afternoon and the last 5 turned into an impromptu tempo session with Adam. 50 mins for 7.26 miles, the last 5 were ran in 32:45. I wanted to run 10 or 13 in the evening because I might not get the chance to do a long run over the weekend. I plan to run in the Bollington Nostalgia Hill race in Sunday, 7 miles with 1200 foot of climb. Never done the race before but it’s a counter in the PLS multi terrain championship.
I went to the club for an evening session, we ended up running the Woolton Hill route which is around 7 miles. I’ve never ran the route in the light, it’s usually a winter favourite of mine, Dave Lynan who’s recently qualified as coach took the session and was keeping an eye on the troops by staying at the back ;0)
It was like a monsoon and with not much in my legs I couldn’t really push up the hills and was feeling cold towards the end. I stayed out for another three miles and after a nice stretch and a bath slept like a log. Still feeling a twinge in my knee but nowhere near as bad as last week.
Looks like the Liverpool marathon is going to fill up sooner than expected. The closing date has been moved forward to 5th August and there are only 2000 places left, glad I’m in now. Hoping for something steady this afternoon with a run and circuit class tonight.
Oh and my Wavertree 5k was 17:43. John Kelly from PLS told me I was 17:20 with 40 metres to go, maybe my patented sprint finish is not all its cracked up to be ;0) |
