Diary of an Athletic Nobody – All the very best

So, this week I'll start the road to Helsby, I'll probably have a drink or two over Christmas but as long as I don't go to mad I should be okay!

So as another year draws to a close I thought I'd give a blow by blow account of another great year for me as an athletic nobody. I managed pb's at 1 mile, 3k, 5k, 5 mile and 10k. I got under 50 mins at Parbold on a longer than usual course and sneaked into the top 200 at the Euro Cross XC.

The structure of my training has vastly improved and I can't wait for 2013. I'm not going to take on a marathon this spring and doubt I'll do one in Autumn either. I want to concentrate on the bread and butter of the other long distance classics. I'm going to try upping the miles and start some resistance weight training and I'm definitely going to get involved with more middle distance track events, mainly more 3k and 1500m events.

I'm about to jet off to Thailand for a spot of warm weather training then I return and I'm straight into the Four Villages half marathon. I always get a few runs in on my holidays and this place looks perfect for to keep things ticking over.

I hope you all had a great Christmas, I didn't get the nike flyknit racers I'd asked santa for but I did get some tickets to see Harry Hill in February, win som, lose some!

Last race of the year looks like being the Stadt Moers Cross Country on 30th - I shall shock and amaze the world by finishing in the top 10, nop really I will!

All the very best fellow athletes.
